A POEM FOR MY MOTHER IN HEAVEN

Long ago or so it seems,
I remember now,Its like a forgotten dream,
Star crossed babe with new new innocent eyes,


Your beauty was the first thing my eyes had ever seen,
I remember and still hear your voice,
Sometimes I have to remember you had no choice,

I still feel when when you were taken away from me,
Joined GOD in eternity,
Sometimes we never know why things are meant to be,

In a rage I cursed GOD on high,
In darkness my misspent youth time did fly,


Father never was there for me,
I was crowned the king of pain and lonely,

Intoxicated and out of my mind,
I saw no good in humankind,


Long ago or so it seems,
I remember now,Its like a forgotten dream,
Star crossed babe with new innocent eyes,

You taught me learning was my magic carpet,
And the whole world was my prize,

In sad too deep and out of touch,
Lost in rage and too late in time,
Till my muse gave me the gift of verse and rhyme,


Now i'm still a star crossed babe with wise innocent eyes,
But now I realize,

You have to forget the past,
To spread your wings and fly,
